Course Introduction

This training course is designed to equip TAPCO participants with the essential knowledge in the daily operation and maintenance of the Mark V control system and HMI. It aims to equip operators and technicians with the skills to configure HMI displays, utilize HMI software tools effectively, and diagnose issues within Gas Turbine SPEEDTRONIC Control Systems. With a strong focus on turbine governing systems, participants will enhance their abilities in HMI features, configuration, and troubleshooting.

The course utilizes a Gas Turbine simulator to provide practical, hands-on experience, enabling participants to handle various operational challenges, understand configuration concepts, and master fault-finding techniques. Through advanced real-time simulators, participants will learn safe and efficient plant operation methods under normal and abnormal conditions, developing the ability to start up, operate, shut down, and troubleshoot gas turbine power plants efficiently.


Course objective

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the types of gas turbines and their applications.
  • Understand and read Gas Turbine schematics and identify instrumentation devices/uses.
  • Identify various Gas Turbine Systems and explain operating requirements for Lube Oil, Hydraulic Oil, and Fuel Systems.
  • Understand start-up, synchronising, and loading procedures.
  • Conduct troubleshooting, fault finding, and configure sequencing.
  • Configure operating displays and the Trip Historical display.
  • Use the software tools that are used to troubleshoot alarms.
  • Edit the sequencing, configure the Inputs and outputs (both hardwired and networked)
  • Calibrate Servo-Actuated Valve, LVDT’s and other devices.
  • Learn the principles of emissions control and the various methods of achieving this.
