Course Introduction

Climate-related hazards are becoming a more immediate workplace safety concern as organizations face higher temperatures, deteriorating air quality, severe weather, flooding, strong winds, and other environmental extremes. These conditions can affect employees, equipment, worksites, transportation, and routine operations, while also intensifying hazards that may already exist. For safety professionals, climate risk is therefore becoming an operational issue that needs to be recognized and managed alongside conventional workplace hazards.

Boost Consulting & Training has designed this course to help organizations translate climate risk into practical workplace safety decisions. Participants learn to identify climate-related hazards relevant to their operations, assess exposure and vulnerability, determine when changing conditions require intervention, and select appropriate controls for people, tasks, workplaces, and critical activities. The course emphasizes practical risk management rather than climate science, keeping the focus firmly on protecting employees and maintaining safe operations.

The main concept of this course is to integrate climate-related hazards into everyday workplace safety management so organizations can anticipate changing exposure, adapt controls, and respond before environmental conditions create unacceptable risks.

Course Objectives

  • Explain the relationship between climate-related hazards and occupational health and safety.
  • Identify climate risks relevant to different workplaces, activities, and workforce groups.
