Course Introduction

Inspection and corrosion management processes play a critical role in asset integrity, safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance, particularly in asset-intensive industries such as oil and gas, utilities, manufacturing, and infrastructure. Failures in these processes can lead to serious safety incidents, unplanned downtime, environmental damage, and significant financial loss.

The Inspection & Corrosion Process for Internal Auditors course is designed for internal auditors who are required to audit technical functions without necessarily having an engineering background.

Within BOOST, this program focuses on helping auditors understand inspection and corrosion processes from a risk, control, and governance perspective, rather than a purely technical one.

The course emphasizes what internal auditors need to know in order to ask the right questions, assess the adequacy of controls, and evaluate whether inspection and corrosion management processes are designed and operating effectively. Participants will explore common corrosion mechanisms, inspection planning concepts, regulatory expectations, and how weaknesses in these areas translate into organizational risk.

By the end of the course, participants will be better equipped to audit inspection and corrosion processes confidently, identify key risk areas, and provide meaningful assurance to management and audit committees.
